Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
The Randolph Fire Department is the EMS (Emergency Medical Service) provider for the Town of Randolph. The department consists of EMT's (Emergency Medical Technicians) at all 3 levels. EMT Levels are EMT B (Basic), EMT I (Intermediates) and EMT P( Paramedics). All members begin training at the EMT Basic level. This class consists of mostly 120 classroom hours including skill stations such as CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), oxygen administration, splinting, cervical spine immobilization, bandaging, wound care, and patient assessment to name a few. Our EMT Basics are also trained to use the Semi Automatic External Defibrillator (SAED), an assisted albuterol program and Epi Pens. EMT Intermediates are EMT Basics with additional training in IV therapy and advanced airway management. EMT Paramedics are the highest trained pre- hospital providers. Once certified to the EMT Basic level or above members may then go on to Paramedic school. The Paramedic training consists of both classroom and clinical rotations which total 800 -1200 hours depending on the program. The EMT P meets the requirements of both the EMT B and the EMT I and has additional training in Cardiology including 12 Lead Electrocardiograms (EKG), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), medication administration, advanced airway management (placing endotrachial tubes) and Intravenous (IV) therapy.
The Randolph Fire Department provides both Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) services to the Town of Randolph. All of our apparatus, including Command Units, are equipped with medical equipment and SAED's. Our newest addition is Engine 4 in North Randolph which is certified to the Paramedic level. This allows us to provide the best service possible to residents and visitors alike.
