Randolph Officially Recognized as a No Place For Hate Community
RANDOLPH HONORED AS A NO PLACE FOR HATE COMMUNITY AT JUNE 26 CEREMONY
ADL New England recognizes Randolph’s achievement at Community Network Conference

Just over a year ago Randolph’s No Place for Hate (NPFH) committee set out to promote inclusion and respect for differences, and encourage residents to speak out against hate and intolerance. The committee planned events such as the Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration and the Peace Dove mural project and street celebration with Sidewalk Sam of Art Street. In recognition, Randolph will now be inducted as an official No Place for Hate community on Thursday June 26, 2008 1:00 - 5:00 pm at the Anti-Defamation League New England’s Community Network Conference at the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Headquarters, Landmark Center, 401 Park Drive, 4th Floor, Boston. A program of ADL New England, No Place for Hate is a community-based program to engage residents, institutions and local organizations in building understanding and respect, and preventing acts of bigotry, hate crimes and civil rights violations. At the June 26 conference, Randolph’s NPFH committee will present Sidewalk Sam’s Peace Dove mural project as a prototype to other NPFH communities. As a result of this project, Sidewalk Sam and Art Street have earned the support of Governor Deval Patrick to take the program to towns throughout the Commonwealth. Art Street has developed a national reputation for using the arts to rally people around noble causes. Its mission is to harness the unique powers of the arts to inspire people, promote community spirit, enrich daily life, and address social ills. Randolph NPFH committee members Board of Selectman Paul Fernandes, School Committee member Paul Meoni and speaker Nancy Goggin as well as other committee members instrumental in planning the Peace Dove mural project - Marjie DiSalvio, Kit Hoffmann, Michelle Mendez Hayes, Tricia Norton and Suzanne Williams will attend the June 26 conference and present a community display showcasing all of Randolph’s NPFH activities. In addition, Randolph’s Peace Dove mural project description will be featured in a NPFH resource binder that will be distributed to all participants.
