Report of the Board of Assessors
During calendar year 2007 the Board of Assessors and the Assessors’ Office staff conducted the Fiscal Year 2008 triennial revaluation of all real estate and personal property located in the Town of Randolph. On December 3rd, 2007 the Board of Assessors received final certification of assessed values from the Massachusetts Commissioner of Revenue. I would like to thank the Assessing Department staff for their hard work and dedication, which allowed us to successfully complete this year’s revaluation.
In calendar year 2007, the Town of Randolph saw a slight decrease in residential property values. The average home assessment dropped from $324,558 last year to this year’s average of $321,062. This was a decrease of approximately one percent from the previous year.
At the Tax Classification hearing held in December of 2007, the Board of Selectmen adopted the recommendation of the Board of Assessors to maintain the existing 175% tax classification shift. The shift adopted by the Selectmen resulted in a residential tax rate for Fiscal Year 2008 of $9.58 per thousand dollars of assessed value. The resulting commercial/industrial tax rate for FY2008 is $18.58 per thousand dollars of value.
